SARMs - Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators
Selective Androgen Receptor Modulators (S.A.R.Ms) provide the positives of testosterone including and not limited to increased muscle mass, fat loss, and bone density. But they do not have the negative side effects of androgens which include prostate issues, hair loss, acne, and liver problems.
Your androgen receptors (AR) are the receptors that androgens such as testosterone and DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) bind to, and send a "signal" to activate once bound. The bounded androgen receptors combine with another androgen receptor to travel to the nucleus of an androgen cell where gene transcription of DNA to RNA takes place. This gene transcription is the process in which androgenic hormones exert their anabolic effects on muscle tissue. In contrast to androgenic steroids, SARMs have the ability to take the place of the androgen, and as a result, they bring forth many of the same positive effects on muscle tissue as anabolic steroids like testosterone and DHT. Being non-steroidal SARMs do not turn into unwanted estrogen or into side-inducing dihydrotestosterone (DHT).
Studies have shown the ability of SARMs to increase muscle and bone mass dramatically in animals while having no adverse impact on the prostate. Phase I trials of SARMs in humans have also reported significant increases in lean muscle mass.
